BONJOUR MES ÉLÈVES !
"Never stop trying. Never stop believing. Never give up. Your day will come." -Mandy Hale
I started learning French in 7th grade (just like some of you) and I have always dreamed of having the opportunity to study abroad in France. When I was in high school, I went to France with the French club for two weeks and it was even better than I could have ever imagined. We went to Paris, Normandy, and Brittany and after that trip, I decided that I wanted to become fluent in French because I realized how much I truly loved the language and culture. Throughout my college years, I have been looking to gain as much experience and practice with the language as possible. After my Sophomore year, I worked at a bilingual summer camp at a French school in Chicago. Then, this past summer, I wanted to challenge myself more, so I worked at a summer camp, called American Village, where I taught French children ages 7-11 how to speak English.
At St. Norbert, there has been a program for student teaching abroad for over 20 years; however, France has never been an option. Through a lot of hard work and support, I am proud and thankful to say that I will be the first student from St. Norbert to student teach in France and students in the future will be able to do the same now as well!
